On Veterans Day we were invited to attend the annual local ceremony by V.F.W. Post Commander and fellow SCV member, Mr. W.R. Bowden. We did not get to meet at our beloved statue due to rain, so we moved inside the VFW Hall. Chris Hoover had set up our camp booth with many interesting displays that included Jerry McClure's local sights chart, numerous photos of CSA Vets, our original 1894 UCV Charter, Lee and his Generals, Civil War era weaponry and Ken McClure brought information on General Hogg and our camp information to pass out. Jerry Don Hartless, Jimmy Campbell and Ken McClure came dressed in period uniforms to honor our Confederate Veterans who served and died their beloved South. Sincere thanks to W.R. Bowden, the VFW and the American Legion for allowing us to be this sacred event. |
